Hinges were on the wrong way around"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On testing the hinged support (with a minimum number of screws) for the Rock Island Sandown N Scale Layout I realised that I had placed the hinges on the wrong way around and that I needed them to allow the layout to be lifted from the front. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/denversrailroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/IMG_1281-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-936\" srcset=\"https:\/\/denversrailroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/IMG_1281-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/denversrailroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/IMG_1281-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/denversrailroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/IMG_1281-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/denversrailroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/IMG_1281-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/denversrailroads.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/IMG_1281.jpeg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This photograph does not look as if much has changed overnight but given the extreme Chemotherapy-Induced Neuropathy (a condition that happens when certain cancer treatments affect the nerves that carry signals between the brain, spinal cord, and the rest of your body \u2014 especially in the hands and feet) in my fingers I did a pretty good job of installing 3 piano hinges with very small screws on the back support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having fixed that screwup I now only have to cut the support braces to size and attach them to the front and back layout supports. I am then good to go with the second sheet of 8&#8242; x 4&#8242; plywood as a base for the 50mm insulation foam board.
