Townsville Model Railway Group

(NQ NMRA)

Group Formation

The Townsville Model Railway Group was formed in September 2014 as a group of like minded people who were interested in N Scale modelling, based on North American prototype railroads. Initially we met monthly in each others houses but starting in 2016 the group took on the project of helping to built one of our members 37' x 13' layout: Denver's RailRoads. We now meet every Saturday afternoon at 1:30pm and work on the layout until 4.30pm when we get together for a chat over a cup of tea/coffee/water. We sometimes watch Railway videos.

In the event that another group member wants to start to build a layout then we will probably alternate between each layout, at least on a monthly basis.

We have no structure, President or a committee and do not consider ourselves a "club." Just a group of individuals getting together. Currently we have 6 group members and we would welcome anyone else who also has an interest in railroad modelling - in any scale or prototype - and would like to join us.

STOP PRESS: As at June 2018 we have become the North Queenland branch of the NMRA (National Model Railroad Association) which means that we can continue to operate as a small group, with no elected officials, but have the support of the NMRA organisation, including public liability insurance, when required. NMRA membership is only $30 per year.

No matter what your scale or prototype interest, if you are interested in joining with us please contact Dennis Turner at dennis@denversrailroads.com or phone him on 0418 211 108.
